Where did January go?

We know it's late, but we hope you had a great Christmas and we wish you and your families, a very happy new year. December seemed to come and go in the blink of an eye, we didn't even get a chance to write a December Blog. From memory, we didn't achieve much cycling in November or December, it just seemed to be one storm after another. One event that did take place was our annual Santa Ride to Windsor, and it was great to see a few riders out and getting into the spirit of things.
There was not a lot to report during January either, with illness, icy conditions and another couple of storms hampering our efforts to get out and ride. However we did manage to get out in the sunshine this last weekend, although the temperatures were still a bit cool as we cycled a short route to Virginia Water for coffee & cake.
So here we are in February already. We have had the shortest day of the winter, we are well into the New Year, the evenings are starting to get lighter and we can start to look ahead to Spring & Summer. The promise of longer days and hopefully warmer temperatures will keep our spirits high over the remaining weeks of winter, as we head towards the changing of the clocks again.
We have now populated our Event List on our website, with rides listed each week until the end of March and we will continue riding each week, providing it is safe to do so. We will continue using the Zwift platform to organise some mid-week rides while the evenings are still dark, but once the clocks change we can look at re-introducing our Wednesday Evening Pretzel rides in Richmond Park and scheduling some longer Sunday rides.
Do you have any goals or plans for your cycling in 2025? Perhaps you plan to do a big event, ride a long distance or just want to ride more often. We'd love to hear your plans and perhaps help you achieve your goals. We are a friendly bunch and we welcome new members to join our club. If you would like to join us on our future rides, visit our Events page and sign up for either a Full Member Induction Ride or a Beginners Session. Once you have attended either of those events you will be given more details on joining Hampton Wick Cycling Club.
We look forward to meeting you soon. In the meantime you can use some of the links at the top of the page to view our social media channels.
