Well June has certainly been a fabulous month, we even gained another new member, so welcome to HWCC, Graham. Very little rain and long sunny days, with some exceptionally high temperatures have contributed to some glorious days out on the bike. Some slightly longer rides last month, to fully take advantage of the conditions and for some of us, good training for events we had during June. We rode to Brighton, Henley-on-Thames and Ripley. Alex also led a ride to Polesden Lacey in the Surrey Hills, so many thanks to him for doing that.

Paula & Dave cycled the British Heart Foundation, London to Brighton and Paula also completed the Dragon Ride Fondo in the mountains of South Wales. Very well done to both of them. Many thanks to Andrew who cycled with me and paced me across the country on what was the hottest day of the year, whilst taking part in the annual Chase The Sun event from the Kent Coast to the Somerset Coast. I also must mention my long suffering wife, Nicky, who once again was up for a 24 hour stint of driving, feeding and watering, and following this mad fool, from coast to coast, and then home again. I know these events would be impossible without her unwaivering support, and I'm extremely lucky to have her in our club and in my life.

Our event list has now been populated until the end of October, but we have lots more Summer to enjoy before that. Scheduled rides in July include destinations such as Tanhouse Farm, Basil & Blue in Chobham and a first ride to Chiltern Velo at Hawridge in The Chilterns.

Don't forget that our Wednesday Evening Pretzel rides in Richmond Park are now well under way, with us meeting at Kingston Gate at 18:30 and the Pretzel takes approx 75-90 minutes to complete. We will post these each week on our Events page, weather depending. Our Wednesday Pretzel rides also double up as Full Member Induction Rides, so if you are interested in coming along and meeting a few of the members, sign up via the events page by clicking the RSVP button on the event page.

We are also pleased to announce that we now have a fully qualified and British Cycling registered, Safeguarding & Welfare Officer. Many thanks again to Paula Norman for undertaking this training and volunteering to take on this role for HWCC.

At HWCC we are a friendly bunch and we welcome new members to our club. If you would like to join us on our future rides, sign up for either a Full Member Induction Ride or a Beginners Session on our Events Page. Once you have attended either of those events you will be given more details on joining Hampton Wick Cycling Club.

We look forward to meeting you soon. In the meantime please use some of the links at the top of the page to view our social media channels.
