New Membership Year.

It’s been a turbulent few months, and family matters have understandably taken priority for some of us. As a result we haven’t been as active with club organisation as usual, but we would like to extend a heartfelt thankyou to all our members for your patience, understanding, and continued support during this time. We’re now fully focused once again on planning rides, events, and activities for the months ahead.

Despite the quieter winter period, HWCC riders have still been out regularly, keeping the wheels turning through the colder months. A special thank‑you goes to Paula Norman, who has proudly flown the HWCC flag on Zwift and continued to organise our Wednesday night virtual group rides around Watopia.

Over winter we’ve kept to shorter routes, visiting familiar favourites such as Dorking, Chobham, Mimbridge, Box Hill, and Windsor. We also managed to squeeze in a Social Night at The Swan in Hampton Wick, our usual post‑ride watering hole, which was a great chance to catch up off the bike.

With March now underway, it’s time for membership renewals. Our membership year runs from 1st March to the end of February, and we’re pleased to confirm that the annual fee remains £30.00.

We’ve also reached meteorological spring, and it finally feels like brighter, warmer riding is on the horizon. The Events Page on our website has been updated with rides scheduled through to the end of May, giving everyone a clear view of what’s coming up. With the clocks going forward in just three weeks, we’ll soon be able to plan longer routes and look at bringing back our popular Wednesday evening Pretzel rides around Richmond Park.

This month’s rides include trips to Polesden Lacey, Ripley, and Chobham, along with a longer outing to an old favourite — Tanhouse Farm Shop — at the end of the month. These routes offer a good mix of distance and elevation, as we ease into spring. Looking further ahead, our London to Paris 2027 trip is now live on the Events Page. It’s a big challenge but an incredibly rewarding one, and we’d love to see a strong HWCC group take it on.

We’d also like to thank Birdie Bikes in Hampton for kindly offering the club an evening maintenance course. We’re currently working to confirm a date that suits as many members as possible.

We know we’ve been a little slow in removing lapsed members from the WhatsApp group, but this will be addressed in the coming days. The group is intended for Full Members and Beginner Members who have paid their subscription, and we’ll be updating the list accordingly.

HWCC is a friendly, welcoming club, and we’re always happy to see new faces. If you’d like to join us on future rides, please sign up for either a Full Member Induction Ride or a Beginners Session via our Events Page. After attending one of these sessions, you’ll receive full details on how to join Hampton Wick Cycling Club.

We look forward to riding with you soon.

In the meantime, feel free to explore our social media channels using the links at the top of the page — we’ll be sharing much more content in the weeks ahead.
