British Summertime!

Once again, apologies that these blog reports have not been posted at regular intervals. The early months of 2025 have been fairly quiet and there has not been much to report.
February and March turned out to be better months than earlier in the winter and we were able to get out and cycle more often. We visited a few of our favourite places such as Pinnocks in Ripley, Basil & Blue in Chobham and a couple of visits to Windsor to treat ourselves to the fabulous buns at the Cinnamon Café. We definitely saw an improvement in the weather during March as springtime seemed to arrive and warmer temperatures were hugely appreciated. Our March rides ventured a bit further than our winter rides as we once again headed to Swains Lane in North London, where Paula and Edward both conquered the well known climb for their respective first times up the ascent. We also managed to host our first Green ride of 2025 and five of us headed out to Frimley last Sunday to once again be greeted by sunshine and warming temperatures as the ride progressed.
So we are now in April, the clocks have gone forward and British Summertime has started. We have had some glimpses of warmer days and we have taken advantage of those days, even managing to ride in bib-shorts and short sleeves last weekend.
We have now populated our Event List on our website, with rides listed each week until the end of July.
We have tried to keep a rotation going of Orange > Yellow > Green rides, but also added in some longer Blue rides. We understand that not everyone always wants to do the shorter or the longer ride, so depending on the level of interest, we will ask members to host their own rides if they wish to do so. We would like to accommodate where we can. We will also re-introduce our Wednesday Evening Pretzel rides in Richmond Park and afterwards adjourn to a local pub for refreshments. These Wednesday evening rides will also act as a Full Member Induction ride, so if you are interested in joining us at HWCC, and find it easier to come along in midweek rather than a Saturday morning, please sign up and come along to meet some of the team.
Do you have any goals or plans for your cycling in 2025? Perhaps you plan to do a big event, ride a long distance or just want to ride more often. We'd love to hear your plans and perhaps help you achieve your goals. We are a friendly bunch and we welcome new members to join our club. If you would like to join us on our future rides, sign up for either a Full Member Induction Ride or a Beginners Session on our Events Page. Once you have attended either of those events you will be given more details on joining Hampton Wick Cycling Club.
We look forward to meeting you soon. In the meantime you can use some of the links at the top of the page to view our social media channels.
